A Flight of Entitlement: When Karma Takes the Controls

Todd, a self-absorbed businessman, boarded a plane with an air of superiority. He belittled the flight attendant, Samantha, and demanded she polish his shoes mid-flight. But little did he know, his condescending behavior would soon be put in check.

As the plane took off, Todd’s haughty attitude only intensified. He complained about the temperature, Wi-Fi, and even the angle of his tray table. Samantha remained professional, but the tension was palpable.

That’s when a turning point occurred. A tall, authoritative man, Mr. Harris, approached Todd. It turned out to be his employer, who had been witnessing the entire ordeal.

Mr. Harris called out Todd’s behavior, saying it was “instructive” and embarrassing to their company. He questioned Todd’s treatment of customer service representatives and hinted at a serious conversation about his future with the organization.

Todd’s demeanor shifted instantly. He became subdued and avoided eye contact for the remainder of the flight. When Samantha passed by to collect trash, he muttered a barely audible “thank you.”

As the plane descended, Samantha caught my eye and smiled genuinely. She had maintained her composure despite Todd’s condescending behavior, and karma had taken care of the rest.

The flight served as a reminder that entitlement has its limits, and sometimes, it takes an unexpected intervention to put things into perspective.
