The aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left a trail of destruction, claiming over 135 lives, including a heart-wrenching story of a 7-year-old boy, Micah, and his grandparents.
Micah’s aunt, Jessica Drye Turner, shared the family’s harrowing experience on Facebook. As they sought refuge on their rooftop in Ashville, North Carolina, the floodwaters swept away Micah and his grandparents. Megan Drye, Micah’s mother, was rescued but left with unbearable grief.
Jessica reflected on her emotional turmoil, finding solace in her faith. “We will see them again one day… I’m sick that Megan has to live with those images.” She revealed Micah’s final words: “Jesus! Please help me!”
A GoFundMe page, organized by Heather Kephart, aims to support Megan, who lost everything. The page describes Megan as “our miracle” who survived the unimaginable.
As Hurricane Helene ravaged the US, schools in Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee closed as a precaution. Governor Brian Kemp declared a State of Emergency for all 159 Georgia counties.
