In a tragic incident, British singer Liam Payne, formerly of the renowned pop group One Direction, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 31. According to Argentine police, Payne died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
The police statement confirmed, “Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo.” Payne’s injuries were described as “incompatible with life,” according to Alberto Crescenti, head of Buenos Aires’ SAME emergency medical service. Crescenti further added that, given the severity of Payne’s injuries, “there was no possibility of resuscitation.”
Emergency services were called to the Casa Sur hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aires, at 5:04 p.m. local time. Within seven minutes, first responders were on the scene, where they sadly confirmed the singer’s death.
Liam Payne rose to fame as part of One Direction, the boy band sensation that took the world by storm in 2010 after the members appeared on the British talent show “The X Factor.” Alongside bandmates Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, Payne achieved international success before the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
After One Direction’s break, Payne pursued a solo career, following in the footsteps of his fellow band members. He had recently attended a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires on October 2, as reported by Billboard magazine.
The world mourns the untimely loss of the talented artist who made an indelible mark on the music industry.
