Snoop Dogg: The Soft Side of a Hip-Hop Icon

Behind the larger-than-life persona of Snoop Dogg lies a devoted family man, cherishing his role as a grandfather. Born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., Snoop has built a legacy extending far beyond music, centered on his unwavering love for family.

Married to Shante Broadus since 1997, Snoop is a father to four children and a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren. Each child holds a special place in his life, and he remains dedicated to honoring the memory of his late grandchild, Kai Love.

Snoop’s family values were showcased in his 2007 reality show, “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood.” He emphasized the importance of family, stating, “I got kids, and I always play my music for them… They think I’m old, but I think I’m young.”

As a grandfather, Snoop adopts a lenient approach, describing himself as a “gullible, get-away-with-everything kind of grandpa.” He cherishes the unique bond with each grandchild, from Zion Kalvin Broadus, his first grandson, to Symphony Sol, his youngest.

The tragic loss of Kai Love in 2019 left an indelible mark on Snoop and his family. Kai’s parents, Corde Broadus and Soraya Love, established the “Kai Heart Foundation” to spread love and healing through community support.

Through joys and sorrows, Snoop’s commitment to family remains unwavering. His grandchildren represent a legacy of love, resilience, and unity, grounding him and connecting him to his roots as “Papa Snoop.”

Snoop’s story serves as a testament to the power of family and love, reminding us that even amidst hardship, these bonds can provide strength and purpose. As he navigates the ups and downs of life, Snoop Dogg remains a devoted family man, solidifying his legacy as “Papa Snoop.”
