Shopping at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or HomeGoods may soon include a new sight: employees wearing body cameras. Parent company TJX Companies has introduced this measure to boost safety for customers and staff.
A TJX spokesperson explained, “Body cameras support our commitment to store safety through various policies, training, and procedures.” Trained employees will wear cameras to de-escalate incidents, deter crime, and demonstrate safety dedication.
Retail expert Carol Spieckerman noted that TJX’s unique inventory model makes tracking challenging. “Their treasure-hunt environment drives frequent visits,” she said.
Camera activation times are unclear, but TJX will share footage only with law enforcement or via subpoena.
