Tragedy at Niagara Falls: A Mother’s Desperate Struggle Ends in Heartbreak

A devastating incident at Niagara Falls has claimed the lives of Chianti Means, 33, and her two young children, Roman Rossman, 9, and Mecca Means, 5 months old. The family’s tragic fate has shaken the community.

On October 29, 2024, New York State Police announced an investigation into the deaths. Authorities responded to a report near Goat Island, involving Chianti and her children falling over Niagara Falls from Luna Island.

Investigators concluded that Chianti intentionally threw her children over the safety rail before jumping after them. The State Police stated that the incident was intentional, with circumstances still under investigation.

Search and rescue efforts were conducted by multiple agencies, but unfortunately, the trio was not recovered. Chianti’s cousin, Bierra Hamilton, revealed that the mother had been struggling with postpartum depression.

Bierra emphasized that Chianti’s death was not due to a breakup or relationship issues but rather her battle with depression. “Postpartum depression is very real and needs a cure,” she stressed.

Chianti’s social media posts hinted at her struggles with mental health. A month before her death, she expressed longing for love and connection. Her posts also highlighted her deep love for her children and family.

Roman’s father, John Wayne Rossman, has set up a GoFundMe page to cover burial costs and create a memorial on Luna Island. The goal is to raise $20,000 for funeral arrangements, including headstones and a memorial service on Roman’s tenth birthday.

John expressed gratitude for prayers and kind words during this difficult time. The tragedy serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of addressing mental health struggles.
