A horrific fire broke out at a nightclub in Kočani, North Macedonia, during a concert by the popular hip-hop duo DNK, leaving at least 60 people dead and over 155 injured, many with severe burns. The blaze, ignited by pyrotechnics used for lighting effects, spread rapidly due to the club’s flammable ceiling material, causing panic and a deadly stampede.

Tragically, the band’s singer, Andrej Gorgieski, lost his life after re-entering the burning building to help others escape. Among the victims were several minors, adding to the heartbreak of the tragedy. Neighboring countries, including Greece, Bulgaria, and Serbia, have offered assistance in the aftermath of the disaster.
North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, expressed deep sorrow and called for unity, urging the nation to support the affected families during this difficult time. Videos circulating on social media captured the chaos as the band urged concertgoers to evacuate, highlighting the sheer terror of the situation.
The tragedy has left the Balkan region in shock, with U.S. Ambassador Angela Aggeler extending condolences and support. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the people of North Macedonia as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
