The Surprising Love Story Behind Fox News’ Bret Baier

While the world knows Bret Baier as the respected Fox News anchor who recently made headlines with his pre-Super Bowl interview of Donald Trump, fewer know the heartwarming story of how he met his wife Amy. Their twenty-year marriage began with a blind date that nearly didn’t happen – a story that’s capturing fans’ attention as much as Bret’s professional achievements.

The couple’s origin story reads like a romantic comedy script. In 2001, Amy was a successful media planner for Calvin Klein in New York, living what she describes as a “fast-paced city life.” After 9/11 prompted her to reevaluate her path and move back to Chicago, a mutual friend insisted she meet this charming Southern journalist. Amy admits she was skeptical at first. “They warned me life with Bret would be anything but ordinary,” she recalled with a laugh to Naples Illustrated.

That warning proved accurate in the best possible way. Bret’s gentlemanly Southern charm – he hails from Atlanta – won her over immediately. “We’ve been together ever since,” Amy says of their instant connection. Two decades later, they’ve built a life together that balances Bret’s high-profile career with raising their two sons, Paul and Daniel, whom Amy calls “simple and sweet.”
