The rock star wonder Phil Collins said a few months ago that he could no longer play the drums. The 71-year-old singer told shocked fans the news while his bandmates were getting ready to get back together for a new Genesis tour.
Collins has since appeared on stage in many places around the world, but the fact that he couldn’t stand during his concert in Berlin made many fans worry about his health.
Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, and Collins all played together at the cool event in Berlin. Fans couldn’t help but notice that, despite how great his voice was, his health was getting worse. During the show, Collins couldn’t stand up, so he sat down and held the mic to his chest like his life depended on it.
At the Mercedez Benz Arena, Genesis fans were thrilled to see Collins play, but they couldn’t help but think about how the singer isn’t the same person he used to be.
Collins got a lot of attention on Twitter because he was seen sitting down the whole time the Berlin show. Some fans even said that the British singer sounded a lot like Peter Gabriel, who used to be in the band.
Fans quickly took to social media to defend Collins, saying that even though he’s been having health problems lately, he’s still in pretty good shape.
On Tuesday, someone on Twitter said, “I’m not a huge Genesis fan, but if I had to pick between the band with Phil Collins as the lead singer and Genesis with Peter Gabriel as the lead singer, I’d go with Phil Collins.”
Someone else on the social networking site said, “Phil Collins is popular because we can still tell him we love him.”
One hopeful fan said, “I saw him back in 2019 as just Phil Collins, and then a few weeks ago on the Genesis tour.” His looks were the same. Even though he has a problem with his back, I can promise you that he is fine.
Following an accident to his spine in 2007, Collins’ health has been affected. Because of his injuries, he has been seen using a wheelchair from time to time. When asked, he admitted in September 2021 that he could not play the drums as well as he used to. Collins told the BBC Breakfast show that his son Nick would play the drums on the Genesis tour in 2021 and 2022.
The hosts of the talk show directly asked Collins if he still sits behind the drums and beats the sheep skin. What did he say?
“No. I wish I could, but I can’t even barely hold on to a stick with my weak hand. Physical problems can happen from time to time.
Even though he wishes he could play the drums better, Collins is glad he can give Genesis one last chance. He’s glad to be going on their last trip with them.
“Yes, but you say things.” “Since we’re all men the same age, I guess it puts things to rest in some ways,” the singer said. “Maybe, just generally, I don’t think I want to go out on the road anymore,” she said.
