My story has taken so many twists and turns that I don’t even know where to begin! I thought my daughter was on the right track for college when she told me she was pregnant. My kid did something so awful that it made me do something after I gave in to that monkey in the works!
Hey everyone. Oh, and by the way, my daughter Rose turns 19 this year. I want to know what everyone thinks about a story I have to tell that might be hard to understand. My fifteen-year-old daughter has been seeing Nathan, a twenty-year-old, for a year now.
Okay, I’ll be honest: as a single mum who has been through a lot, I had my worries about Nathan. He turned out to be a really nice guy, though, which made me very happy. I became aware that I was thinking of him as my adopted child as I got together with him.
I wasn’t too happy when I learned something I didn’t want for her at that age. Whenever she got home, she told me, “Mom, I need to tell you something. You need to promise me you won’t be mad.”
Of course, I had heard that before and had a plan B ready. As my mind started to play through different scenarios, I cursed myself for letting Nathan get into my heart. I even blamed myself for letting down my guard around him.
I have no idea how I knew it, but I thought he might be up to something my daughter wanted to talk about!
But I tried to hide my doubts as I tried to be a good dad. “Babe, what is it? You know you can tell me anything.” To be quiet, I asked. She let out a heavy sigh and took a deep breath before nervously saying:
“I’m carrying Nathan’s child. You’ll be a grandmother.”
I was shocked! I hadn’t thought of that as an idea for some reason. Indeed, Rose was a child herself, and she was about to become a mum! When I thought about how abruptly her life would change, I felt a wave of sadness.
I thought about all the things she would have to deal with now that she couldn’t go to college.
Because of what she and Nathan were planning to do, I was afraid that she might not be able to finish school at all. Seeing the worry in my eyes, my daughter tried to make me feel better:
“I know you told me to plan my future first, but this baby and Nathan are very important to it.”
She told me that everything would be okay. When I found out I was going to have a baby soon, I gave in to my happiness. With a hug, I told her how happy I was for her and Nathan. Rose then pulled away and said:
“Well, I have one more surprise for you.”
This time, she held out her left hand, and there was a ring on her wedding finger!
“He asked Mommy to marry him, and I said yes!” At the first sign of trouble, I could tell Nathan was worried about my child and her future. I was overjoyed when my daughter was born!
I was hesitant at first, but as the days went by, I couldn’t help but get excited. Two things that made me happy were their wedding and the birth of my first grandson. I let them live with me because I was so interested in their lives.
In the meantime, Nathan worked on making a strong base for his new family.
I even gave the lucky pair a special room in my house for the nursery. It was fun to decorate it together! But on a terrible afternoon, things changed quickly in my simple, usually quiet home.
I got home early than usual, bringing a lot of cheap stuff from the store down the street. I bought things to get ready for my granddaughter to come home. I didn’t know, though, that the peace of the day would soon fall apart in front of me.
With a spring in my step, I walked into the kitchen and saw Rose there. She only had on her pretty knickers. Her shocked look matched the beat of my heart, which seemed to notice a problem before I did.
“Mom!” Why are you leaving so early? Rose stuttered and her voice trembled.
A deep, foreign voice asked, “Baby, who are you talking to?” from the hallway before I could answer. I felt sick to my stomach when I realised it wasn’t Nathan because of how casually close the conversation was.
I finally saw Rose with two hot cups of coffee in her hands and let go of the diapers and other things. The things I saw that day still make my hands shake…
My voice went up as I pointed to the mess at my feet and said, “I thought I’d surprise you with these!” “But it looks like I’m the one who’s shocked.” While Rose begged, “Mom, please let me explain!” my heart was pounding, so I took a step towards the voice.
I ignored her and opened the bedroom door to find a guy I didn’t know wrapped in the sheet Nathan’s mother had given him!
“Rose, what’s going on here?” I asked for an answer that hung in the air with a harsh voice. When the man stood up, he tried to look respectable, which made me mad.
“I’m truly sorry, ma’am.””I didn’t know—” he started, his eyes flashing all over the place.
“Out!” I cut him off very quickly. He skittered away from me without stopping, bringing a ghost of regret with him.
Rose was crying now, and her makeup was all over the place from being hurt. Mom, it was a mistake. I was just being unimportant. Please don’t tell Nathan anything. She begged me, “Please.”
“You say ‘that was nothing,’ but how?” You disrespect everything that your family has worked so hard to give you. I screamed because my eyes hurt.
“Not just Nathan, you’ve lied to everyone.” This house and room were built with your future and the future of your child in mind.
But seeing her with another man in the house where we had painted our dreams together made me even more determined. Rose, you chose what to do. You need to leave now. While I think about whether I can ever see you the same way again, I need some time to calm down.
Rose slid down and grabbed my legs.
“Mom, I don’t have any money and nowhere to go!” “Excuse me, I’m scared,” she said. As I stood there with tears in my eyes and watched her grab her few things, I felt a part of myself fall apart. But the lie was too big and the hurt was too fresh.
As I sit here by myself with unfinished plans, I think about what I can do. There is a lot of question about who the baby’s father is—was Rose even carrying Nathan’s child? Should I make him deal with this reality?
Was Rose’s being kicked out of school the right thing to do or was it too harsh?
As you read my sad story, I ask you with heavy heart: Should I tell Nathan this sad truth? To keep our family together, was that the right thing for me to do? Or am I a mother who has been deceived and is acting in a way that hurts others?
In Ella’s story, she had to kick her daughter out because she wouldn’t respect her home and everything she and Nathan had done for her. In the next story, another parent had to do the same harsh thing. This time, the woman stood her ground because her future daughter-in-law was rude and full of herself.
Is it wrong that I kicked my future daughter-in-law out of my house when she made claims about my jewellery?
What a drama it is to inherit rings! This story about engagement problems on Reddit is so interesting that it could be as good as a soap series!
A 48-year-old mother is the main character of the story. She loves jewels and has a huge collection of sparkling items, including an emerald ring. For what looks like a simple meal, her 22-year-old son brings his fiancée over. He is engaged to her.
Things get awkward when the future daughter-in-law tells her mother how much she loves her emerald ring, which she doesn’t wear very often. In addition to the important wedding gifts that have already been planned, she asks for the ring specifically as an heirloom engagement gift, so it’s not just a matter of respect!
Our Reddit user is clearly shocked and charges her future daughter-in-law of looking at her estate too soon. The young woman replies that it’s normal for riches to be passed down from generation to generation.
The situation quickly gets out of hand, and the daughter-in-law and her angry fiancé are told to leave.
The son agrees with his fiancée that giving the ring away would have been a nice thing to do. Mom is shocked by her son’s sudden stance, even though her husband and daughter back her and agree that the ring was hers to do with as she pleased.
It’s a fight between the mother and her future daughter-in-law, and the family is now split up. Isn’t that a wonderful story? Hold on tight to those rings and the family drama, people!
