From Fired to Famous: The Single Mom and Her Secret Weapon

The boss fired a single mom who was on maternity leave without knowing that her oldest son was a top lawyer.

Maria thought she was living the dream because she had a great new job and a surprise love interest. Everything falls apart when her angry boss fires her.

Maria sobbed as she hugged her son Lucas. “Dear, you will always be admired by me!” As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I had no idea that you would do well in life. Congratulations on finishing law school! Your hard work has paid off.

She got a sarcastic smile from Lucas. He said, “Wow, you make it sound like I had no possibility of success.”

Friendily, Maria hit him on the arm. What I mean is clear to you. Although I was sixteen, I still felt like a child. Lucas, even though it was hard to be a young mum, you make me happy and proud. I know I made a lot of mistakes.

Lucas took Maria’s hair and messed it up after kissing her on the cheek. Their relationship was strange because she had finished high school and community college while he had grown up with his folks. Like brothers, they used to get ready for school at the same time.

Saying “I miss you” Maria bowed her head. It’s great that you have a job, but I wish you would stay here instead of going to the city.

“I will come back to see you.” We’re talking about a one-hour drive.

While walking hand-in-hand through the well-kept grounds of the hospital, Maria smiled at him. The sun was shining down, and the air smelled clean and nice. It was the perfect day for Lucas to start the rest of his life.

Five years later, Maria went back to working for the same big company she had been working for before. Maria felt like she had to start over even though she was forty years old because she had spent so much of her time raising Lucas.

How she felt hit her very hard when she met her new boss, Allen. As she shook his hand, she felt like electric fire was coursing through her. She couldn’t take her eyes off of his beautiful face.

Allen told Maria, “It’s great to have you on board.” “Your resume was great, and I think you’re just what we’ve been looking for here.”

“I’m happy to be here with you and work with you.” Simply put, this is my dream job.

Allen smiled, and Maria choked up. He said something else in a low voice, but she didn’t pay attention because she was enjoying his well-kept beard and the way his arms moved under his shirt.

There was more from Allen: “Let me show you to your office.” “Considering that you are close by, I can closely watch you.”

She felt her heart stop when he winked at her. She had to get herself together! He led her down the hall with shiny tiles, and she tried hard not to look at his behind. A love relationship at work wasn’t something Maria wanted to get involved in. Too many of her friends had already been through that, and she didn’t want to be one of them.

Maria learned very quickly that the heart follows its urges, no matter how silly they are. Allen’s lack of a wedding band and the fact that she often caught him sneakily watching her didn’t help.

It all started with shy smiles and funny jokes over coffee in the morning. As they worked together to come up with ideas, their legs often scraped against the table. Allen called Maria into his office to give her a report on a big project. Before that day, nothing seemed serious.

“We got the deal!” Allen offered a smile to her.

Maria quickly went from having the perfect job at the company to having the worst job ever.
Both Allen and Maria were so happy about what they had done that they couldn’t help but hug each other. Once they were in each other’s arms, they didn’t want the moment to end.

In a low voice, he said, “I’m sorry, but we shouldn’t.”

They looked at each other and she said, “Yeah.”

Because they were so close, she could feel his heart beating just like hers did. The smell of wood and leather in his perfume was too strong for her. His fingers moved quickly and precisely along the curves of her face.

In that first kiss, there was both beauty and fireworks. She felt like cotton wool when he pulled her closer. It was the start of a short but intense relationship that happened in secret in hotel rooms and offices around the area. Something out of the blue ended Allen and Maria’s fiery, passionate love.

“You surely can’t be pregnant.” Allen collapsed to the ground, burying his head in his hands.

“Even though we didn’t plan for this baby, we can make it work,” Maria told him, putting her hands on his back.

Saying “No, we can’t” Allen got up and began to walk around his desk.

“Marija, I love you, but it’s time to stop.” Unfortunately, I’m married, so we can’t be together.

Maria looked at him with her whole body. The world didn’t seem to be spinning anymore. “But…you don’t have a ring or family photos!” She blurted out as she pointed to his desk.

“I like to keep my work life and personal life separate,” He mumbled and ran his hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, but I think this will make us both smarter than we were before. We all make mistakes, right? Naturally, I’ll pay for the costs of ending the contract.

I said “No!” Maria put her hands on her stomach and crossed them. “That’s not what I’m going to do, Allen.”

Allen’s angry look cast a dark cloud over his face. Maria, please be careful with this. It would be a big mistake to carry this baby to term.

“This time, you are the only one who is wrong.” I heard Maria run through the door. She couldn’t believe that her child’s father had left her for the second time in her life!

Over the next few months, Maria would have some of her worst days. The look on her parents’ faces when she told them she was left with a child again broke her heart. In the same way, she couldn’t tell Lucas that he was going to become a brother. He seemed really happy on social media. What could this new information do to break that illusion?

Maria quickly went from having the perfect job at the company to having the worst job ever. Allen no longer worked on projects with her. Instead, he let her do the job on her own. After going over everything, he would send her the drafts again along with pages of notes telling her what she needed to rewrite. This meant she had to do everything three times.

“That mean boss of yours will never be able to get another job after I’m done with them.”
She couldn’t talk to him at all, not even about work-related things. He would tell her to send an email and then dismiss her, but he would usually ignore it. His mood got worse when Maria showed up.

“Congrats!” Maria’s hand was taken by Amy, the accountant. “I had no idea you were married.” What time is it—”

“We have to finish the Johnson plan today.” Allen suddenly showed up and rushed to take Maria back to her office.

He heard Maria say in a whisper, “I wasn’t going to say anything about us.”

“Be productive, not socialise in the office!” Allen finally lost it because he was so red in the face.

When Maria’s due date got close, Allen didn’t do much to help her out. He instead gave her too much work and often said mean things about how she was to blame for things happening. Maria would often come home crying, but she didn’t want to tell Lucas that she was pregnant.

One day, Allen stomped into her office, angry about the most recent plan she had worked on. His yelling made Maria’s lower back hurt like it was being stabbed. He was about to leave the room when Maria’s water broke, telling her to do the work again.

“There’s a baby coming!”

Mariı was rushed to the hospital. Her short but hard labour ended with the birth of a healthy boy named Riley. She had thought about giving the baby up for adoption, but when she saw Riley’s cute face, she changed her mind.

After a few days, Maria took Riley home. During her six-month maternity leave, she had plenty of time to spend with her baby and check out Lucas’s social media accounts.

On the following Monday, Maria got a bad shock. Someone from her job called to tell her she had been fired! Allen fired her for poor work because she hadn’t changed the plan he was yelling at her about when she went into labour.

She began to cry. It was so hard for her to see that the man who had come into her house was there.

“What about Mom?” Lucas quickly ran to join Maria. Mom, why do you cry? How come this is wrong?”

Luca! “What are you doing here?” Maria looked up at him in surprise.

“I unexpectedly dropped by.” Lucas’s eyes grew bigger as he took in everything in the room, even the baby in his mother’s arms.

But it looks like I’m the one getting a treat. “Which child is this?”

Lucas’s chest tightened with anger as Maria told him everything that had happened to her. He was shaking and his blood was boiling when she was done.

“Firing you while you’re on maternity leave is against the law,” he said. “That mean boss of yours will never be able to get another job after I’m done with them.”

“You’re scared that someone will find out your little dark secret.” This will be very interesting to the judge when I take you to court.
Lucas, don’t do it. Mother hung her head downward. “I couldn’t stand the scandal this would bring about.”

He won’t get away with mistreating you, Mom. On top of that, I’m now a big brother. I need to make sure that little guy is safe. Lucas kissed his brother on the face hard and hugged his mom tight. I promise to stay away, though. Just give me everything.

Lucas climbed the stairs to the company where his mother used to work with a heavy heart. He felt terrible that she chose to handle these problems on her own instead of asking for help. It made him sick to think about how she had been treated.

Lucas said in a low voice, “Allen, you’re about to get the surprise of your life.”

In an hour, Lucas was sitting alone in the back of a meeting. Aside from one, every conference table in the middle of the room was full of top company execs and stockholders.

Everyone in the room looked at Allen when he walked in. He said sorry for being late and looked confused when he saw that everyone was still looking at him.

There must be a problem. Allen asked after he took a seat.

CEO of the company told Mr Walsh, “Please look over the papers in front of you.”

“You are being accused of firing someone illegally.”

Answer: “What?” Allen turned white as he looked through the pages. “This statement is not true!” I fired her because she was messy and slack. It had nothing to do with her getting hit up.

Then Lucas got up after clearing his throat. “I don’t agree, Mr. Walsh.”

Lucas couldn’t stop smiling as he watched Allen writhe as he introduced himself and talked about his skills. After reading the law to the whole room, he demanded that Mom get her old job back and be compensated for the emotional pain she had gone through.

“Not a chance.” A handshake was given by Allen. We fired her because she wasn’t doing her job well. What’s left of this is not important.

Couldn’t it be said that she went into labour and couldn’t finish her work? Most likely because you made her angry by yelling at her, Mr. Walsh?”

“Hold on a second—”

“And wouldn’t she not have gotten pregnant if you hadn’t cheated on her with her?”

In the office, everyone let out a gasp. Allen had red lips that lit up.

“Not only did you fire someone illegally, you also did incredibly bad behaviour.” Is that not the real reason you want to fire my mum? You are scared that someone might find out your little dark secret. This will be very interesting to the judge when I take you to court.

Allen hung his shoulders. Because he didn’t have to say anything else, he didn’t. His face made it clear that he felt bad about himself.

Additionally, Allen lost his job that same day. Maria had finished a lot of Allen’s work, so the company’s leaders not only hired her back, but also promoted her to Allen’s job.

Lucas, Mom, and Riley were happy. He decided to move back to the town so he could be closer to his family and still be able to get to the city when he needed to.

In what ways can this story teach us something?

Your family will always be there for you if they love you. Lucas and Maria hadn’t talked much lately, but he was ready to help her when he found out she needed it.
Maintain the moral high ground at all times. We can all live in a better world if we do good things and fight for justice all the time.
