Farmers always worry about rodents and other “creepy crawlies.” People who aren’t supposed to be there usually eat the food and could spread disease. But a field of weed fought back against a small person who tried to get in. In Canada’s New Brunswick, where cannabis is allowed, a mouse was seen among the plants. It was on its back and had passed out from being “stoned.” [1]
A “stoned” mouse was found on a stack of cannabis leaves.
Colin Sullivan said that the little animal had been taking leaves from his plants for two days in a row. The mouse was seen chewing on its small “harvest” before it felt the effects. The mouse was caught while it was lying on its pile of leaves, knocked out.
Sullivan put the mouse in a cage so it could “detox” until it was right again. The mouse ran back into the wild after six days.
“For two days in a row I’ve caught this little pothead taking leaves off of my plant and eating them until he passes out,” the owner wrote on Facebook about the funny event.
“He’s missing an ear, so it could be that he’s self-medicating for his PTSD, but I still think it’s time for someone to step in and help him.” This time I’ll let him sleep it off, but when he wakes up I’m going to give him a mean talk.
A few days later, while the mouse was still in his Perspex cage, Sullivan told his fans what was going on.
He explained, “So it’s been a rough few days for our little baked friend here. But I think he’ll get better, even though he has a stomachache and the munchies.”
“Weaned him to one medium leaf a day, and he seems to be in good shape.” “Take it one day at a time, friend.”
After three days, the mouse was let out of “rehab.” Sullivan told everyone the good news that the mouse was sober with a lot of funny puns:
“On the Rat to Redemption.”
“This little mouse has been fighting addiction for a long time and has finally given up. He has picked out the seeds and stems and is ready to roll out.” Joining forces to help a junkie clear their head is good for all of us. He did the best cannibalism possible and got his first Twelve Step chip.
“I may have broken down his door, but he was the one who escaped.” “Goodbye, friend. Until next time.”
It’s everywhere: the “Stoner Mouse.”
There were more than 461 thousand shares on the first post, and more than 6.4 thousand shares and 1.5 thousand comments on the last post, which were mostly jokes and laughs.
Cody Myshrall said, “I’m glad to hear that he’s getting better.”
“I can just hear Cheech the mouse going…” Rhyll O’Keefe said. I have no idea where I was… I went to jail, though.'”
As Wendy Chaplin put it, “Withdrawal is hard!” Thanks for taking care of the little stoner!”
Sullivan has been through drug rehab before. He wrote a beautiful tribute to his wife, Robyn Sullivan, in between the mouse story. He also said, “She saved my life and is the main reason I’ve been sober for so long…”
A lot of people who commented on the post said they “came for the stoner mouse,” but they loved the sweet message and praised Sullivan’s decision to stay sober.
What the law says about cannabis in New Brunswick.
Cannabis has been legal in Canada since 2018, but the laws in each province and region are different.
On their website, the New Brunswick government says, “We are building a culture that is safe, legal, responsible, and only for adults through our choices, actions, and laws.” We are putting instruction and awareness about public health first while also taking advantage of the business opportunities this new industry offers. [2]
Cannabis can only be sold by licensed stores in this state, and people must be 19 years old to use it. A person is only allowed to have 30 grams at a time. Also, people will not be able to smoke weed in public or while driving. Landlords can tell their renters they can’t smoke cannabis or grow it. But if they let people smoke tobacco, they can’t stop people from smoking weed. [3]
“New Brunswickers need to know about the risks so they can make smart choices about their own cannabis use,” they say in the end.
