Pat Sajak looks like he’s ready for his last Wheel of Fortune spin.
“That’s probably enough for most TV shows at this point,” Sajak, 75, told Entertainment Tonight. “But this show will not die.”
Watch Wheel of Fortune online. The show began in 1975, and Sajak joined in 1981. During Sajak’s 40-year run, co-host Vanna White, 65, has become the show’s face.
The speaker thought about what he would do next in his life and said, “It looks like I may go before the show.”

“I feel honored to have spent so much time in people’s living rooms.” A lot of people were out there greeting us. Sajak, who also jokes with famous people on the show’s spin-off Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (his one wish list contestant? Meryl Streep), said, “We’re happy and proud.”
“Years go by quickly,” Sajak agreed. Nevertheless, he said, “We’re almost there.” The last time was a long time ago. We’ll wait 40 years before doing this again. The end is closing in.”
After the third contestant wins $100,000 in the same week, Pat Sajak jokes that he will leave the Wheel of Fortune set.
Pat Sajak and Vanna White: In December, Sajak celebrated his 40th anniversary as a host with a speech from his daughter Maggie. She wrote, “Happy 40th Wheel-iversary to this guy!” along with a picture of her dad hosting the show. It’s been thirty years since @patsajak hosted his first show of @WheelofFortune.
The reliable speaker has only missed one episode because of surgery for a clogged intestine, which gave White the chance to host.
