McDonald’s worker caught using fries warmer to dry mop

A video that was shared online seems to show a worker at McDonald’s drying the head of a mop with a heat lamp that was meant to keep food warm.

Watch the shocking video below:

Those of you who have been to a McDonald’s restaurant have probably seen fries, burgers, and bites sitting under different heat lamps, ready to be chosen as a meal.

Some people find it comforting to see warm, salty food ready to fill their cravings, but a new video might make you feel differently.

The video was posted to a Facebook group called Subtle Bogan Hints. It is said to have been filmed at a McDonald’s in Booval, Ipswich, which is about 18 miles southwest of Brisbane, Australia.

People are used to seeing cooked french fries in a metal bucket and bags of packed fries on a shelf above them. This is what the video shows.

The overhead heat lamp was supposed to keep the food hot, but it looks like someone in a McDonald’s outfit was drying off the head of a detachable mop with the warm light.

It’s not clear what the mop was used for before it was put under the lamp, but you probably wouldn’t want it on your fries.

After being shared on Facebook, the video quickly got a lot of attention, with many people making jokes about what they saw.

“It’s the old McMop again!” One funny comment said, “Must be for a limited time only; get in while they’re hot.”

Some watchers, on the other hand, weren’t so casual about it.

In response to the worker using the lamp to dry the mop, one person called them “brainless,” and another called the place as a whole “filthy.”

Following the video, McDonald’s has responded to make it clear that it is taking the issue very seriously.

The fast-food chain’s representative told MailOnline that the business takes food safety “extremely seriously” and that all of its stores should follow strict cleaning and hygiene rules.

Another person from the company said that they had talked to the restaurant where the video was shot about the problem.

“[We] have given all of our employees thorough new training on McDonald’s cleaning, hygiene, and food safety procedures,” they said.

“This was an isolated incident, and we will continue to work with the restaurant to ensure this does not happen again.”

The Daily Mail Australia says that McDonald’s management has talked to the worker in the video and that she will keep her job.
