When asked if she’s ever been “self-conscious” about her eyes, Anya Taylor-Joy gave a sad answer.
The actor has been in the news for a long time. He is probably best known for his role in the hit Netflix show The Queen’s Gambit.
Taylor-Joy first got her start in Hollywood when she was in her late teens and got parts in movies like Endeavour and The Witch.
The 28-year-old actress also had a role in the 2016 movie Split, which many people consider to be her big break.
In the same year that Taylor-Joy and James McAvoy appeared in that movie, she talked to W-Magazine about her dramatic rise to fame in Hollywood.
During the conversation, the reporter said that her eyes were “beautiful” and then said, “They’re so far apart.”
“Did they make you feel bad about yourself as a child?” the reporter asked.
Because of this, Taylor-Joy thought about all the mean things people have said about her looks.
“I remember when Facebook was popular and I had no idea that my eyes were so far apart until someone tagged me in a picture with a fish and said, ‘This is you, because your eyes are like this,'” she said, describing a very sad memory.
“And I was really upset about it and I didn’t enjoy it and I kind of stopped looking in mirrors for a very long time.”
At the time, the actress also said that she still didn’t “spend a lot of time in front of mirrors” to avoid having to “deal with [her] face.”
She made a joke, “Unfortunately, you all do.”
Taylor-Joy talked about more memories from her childhood and how the way her eyes were placed also affected her ability to play sports.
“However, it’s interesting in sports because I became very aware that when I was younger, my head was a lot smaller, so my eyes were really on both sides of my face,” she said.
“Everyone on the playground knew that if you wanted me to catch a ball, you had to throw it at the side of my head. If you threw it straight here, I’d just go, ‘Oh my God.'” What? What took place? “What’s going on?”
She did say that her face has “grown a bit more” since then, though.
“I feel like I’m becoming myself.” “I feel a little less awkward,” she said. “But I’m still taking a lot of space. I gained about two inches of height last year. “I’m not sure what to do with all of my limbs.”
Taylor-Joy may not have thought she knew what to do with her arms, but she is still doing very well in Hollywood, so whatever she did must have worked.
