Katie Holmes gave a rare interview in which she talked about her plans to “protect” the daughter she has with Tom Cruise.
Holmes and Cruise, who plays Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible, had a public split in 2012, after being married for six years.
A lot of people have theories about why Holmes kept custody of the couple’s daughter Suri after they got divorced. She has been honest about not seeing much of the now-16-year-old girl over the years.
Holmes herself became famous when she got a part in the teen soap Dawson’s Creek when she was 19.
Holmes told Glamour Magazine, “When Dawson’s Creek was popular, I remember really wanting to grow as an actor and not just do things to cash in on the moment.” “I wished to have other people teach me.”
The Batman Begins star, on the other hand, reached new heights when she started dating Hollywood star Tom Cruise. After they had their daughter Suri, the media became very interested in the couple’s family.
Because of all the attention, new photographer pictures of Tom and Kate’s young daughter came out almost every day. Because of this, Katie stepped away from the spotlight to defend her daughter’s honor. She started a career break that ended in 2011.
According to what was said, Tom and Katie broke up in 2012, five years after getting married in Italy.
The fact that the rumors went crazy may not have been so surprising since they were one of the most famous couples in the world. There was a lot of talk about why they broke up, and Holmes was thought to not trust the Church of Scientology.
Katie did, in fact, file for divorce from Tom in New York. Supposedly, she did this so she had a better chance of getting sole custody of Suri; the state doesn’t like it when parents who are fighting share control.
Holmes made sure that Suri stayed away from Scientology once she had full care of the child. It was said that Tom didn’t see the divorce coming, so he couldn’t control the story like he was accused of doing when he and Nicole Kidman broke up.
No matter what, Holmes’s desire to keep her child safe is still strong.
Before her new movie, Rare Objects, came out, the 44-year-old beauty said:
“Protecting my daughter has been very important to me because she was so obvious when she was young. I’m thankful to be her parent. She is a truly amazing person.
Recently, it was said that Tom Cruise’s bond with his daughter is pretty much nonexistent. Sources tell Page Six that the 60-year-old Top Gun star is no longer in Suri’s life and hasn’t seen her in years.
