A Heartfelt Father-Son Duet by Phil and Nic Collins

In the months leading up to his “Not Dead Yet Tour,” the iconic drummer Phil Collins encountered nerve issues in his hand, making drumming a daunting task.

Luckily, he had a capable ally close by – his son, Nic Collins, who joined him from 2016 to 2019 on the tour, stepping in on drums when needed.

Their musical partnership took an unexpected twist during a tour stop in Houston when Nic was asked to play the piano. Surprising, but they rolled with it.

Sharing a moment of humor, Phil mentioned sharing one song, and Nic playfully corrected him, adding “mostly just one.” They’re clearly on the same wavelength.

One of their special moments was when they performed “You Know What I Mean” from Phil’s debut solo album. It was a touching rendition with Phil on vocals and Nic on keys.

Despite Phil’s health challenges, fans were thrilled to see him still performing. Comments poured in, expressing joy and admiration for their father-son dynamic.

Their performance video garnered over 2.70 million views, with many praising their connection. “Wonderful to see father and son together in that way,” one commenter noted.

Nic’s musical prowess was evident, inheriting his father’s talent. He showcased his versatility, particularly with his drumming skills.

In Houston, Nic wowed the crowd with a drum duet alongside Richie Garcia, evolving into a drum trio with Phil. A proud moment for father and son.

Following the Genesis tour, Nic continued drumming alongside his father till 2022. He also joined Mike and the Mechanics, playing drums for the band.

His solo project, Better Strangers, debuted in 2022, a must-listen for drum enthusiasts craving more of Nic’s beats.

As Nic carries forward his father’s musical legacy while carving his own path, the future looks bright for this talented drummer, offering ample opportunities to showcase his skills for years to come.
