These Target stores are set to close: Here’s the full list..

Target is facing a tough challenge with increasing theft and organized retail crime, prompting the closure of nine stores across four states. Despite beefing up security measures and using theft-prevention tools, the problem persisted. Here’s a breakdown of the affected areas and the impact on remaining stores and jobs:

In New York City, the Harlem location at 517 E 117th St. is closing. However, Target still operates 96 other stores in the area, providing employment to over 20,000 team members.

In Seattle, the University Way and Ballard stores are shutting down. Despite this, 22 stores remain open, supporting nearly 4,000 team members.

San Francisco/Oakland will see the closure of the SF Folsom and Oakland Broadway stores. However, there are still 32 remaining stores in the region, employing over 6,400 team members.

Portland is losing the Galleria, Powell, and Hollywood stores. Nevertheless, there are still 15 stores operating, with more than 2,500 team members.

Despite these closures, over 150 stores are still in operation across these regions. Target is ramping up security efforts by locking certain merchandise cases and partnering with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations division. Target acknowledges that while they are investing significantly in their business, addressing this issue requires collaboration beyond their efforts alone.
