Heartbreaking photo shows shelter pit bull “losing hope” after adoptions fall through — still looking for a home

Every dog in a shelter dreams of a family to call their own. But for some, like Rocky, the journey to finding that home is long and filled with disappointment.

Rocky, a 3-year-old pit bull, has been at Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, since October 2022. His previous family could no longer care for him after being evicted from their home. Despite being adopted out twice, Rocky always finds himself back at the shelter. Even short trial periods in potential homes have led to his return.

Lindsay Brewer, a communications specialist at the shelter, explained to Newsweek that Rocky needs a specific type of home to thrive – one without other dogs and with adults only.

After over a year of hope and heartache, Rocky’s spirit seems to be waning. A recent photo posted by the shelter captures him sitting alone in his kennel, head hung low, seemingly devastated by yet another day without a family.

But amidst the sadness, there is still hope for Rocky. Despite the setbacks, the shelter continues to work tirelessly to find him the perfect home where he can finally feel loved and secure.
