Daughter Ashamed of Her Mother Pretends She’s the Maid for Fiancé — A Story of Transformation

A young woman, embarrassed by her mother’s disability, tells her to pretend to be the maid when her wealthy fiancé visits.

Nicky Weaver had always been a spoiled and self-centered child, largely due to her mother Sophia’s indulgence. Sophia had lavished all her love and resources on Nicky, her only child.

When Nicky was three, a severe car accident left Sophia disabled and scarred, leading to her husband’s departure. Sophia survived but was forever changed. She poured her heart into raising Nicky, but instead of becoming kind and considerate, Nicky grew up to be selfish and cruel.

It started in high school when Nicky realized Sophia didn’t look like the other mothers. Sophia had a limp and a visible scar on her neck. Ashamed, Nicky banned her mother from attending any school events.

“Mom,” Nicky said harshly, “I’m the prettiest and most popular girl in school. You don’t look like my mom!”

Sophia hid her pain and agreed, wanting Nicky to be happy and popular. She watched Nicky’s graduation from a distance, not wanting to embarrass her daughter.

When Nicky left for college, Sophia missed her deeply and managed to forget Nicky’s selfishness. She was thrilled when Nicky returned home after college with a job offer. But if Sophia hoped Nicky had changed, she was in for a surprise.

Nicky soon started dating George, a charming young man from her boss’s law firm. “Mom, George is the one!” Nicky declared. “No more tiny apartments and cheap clothes!”

Sophia, a successful online entrepreneur, was hurt by Nicky’s disdain for their comfortable home and the things she had worked hard to provide. Things got worse when Nicky came home with a diamond ring, announcing her engagement to George.

“Mom, he proposed! And I said yes…” Nicky said, showing off the ring.

Sophia smiled, happy for her daughter. “I’m glad you found someone you love…”

“Love?” Nicky scoffed. “I’m not stupid, Mom. I’m marrying George for the life he can give me, not for love.”

“When do I meet George and his family?” Sophia asked hesitantly.

Nicky gave her a fake smile. “Oh, I’ll arrange something soon!” She had no intention of introducing her mother yet, needing a place to stay until she was married.

But George wanted to meet Nicky’s family, so she lied, saying her mother was on a business trip. When Nicky told Sophia to prepare a special dinner for George’s visit, Sophia was excited and set the table for three. Nicky, looking glamorous, noticed and snapped, “Three? Mom, tonight you’re the maid. I can’t have George thinking I have a disabled mother.”

When George arrived and Nicky introduced Sophia as the maid, Sophia was humiliated and left, heartbroken. She went to her friend Anne’s apartment, where she broke down and told Anne everything.

Anne, furious, decided it was time for Nicky to learn a lesson. The next morning, Anne burst into Nicky’s apartment, pretending to be her mother, calling out, “Nicky! It’s me, your mom!”

Nicky, shocked, tried to explain to George, but Anne kept up the act, embarrassing Nicky further. George, realizing the truth about Nicky, left without a word.

Anne turned to Nicky. “You’ve been awful to your mother for too long. She deserves better. You need to change.”

Nicky was devastated. She had never faced the truth about herself before. Filled with guilt, she went to Anne’s place to beg her mother for forgiveness. This marked the beginning of Nicky’s transformation. She wasn’t perfect and made mistakes, but she became a more caring and compassionate daughter.
