My Daughter Forgot My 90th Birthday – Here’s What Happened Next

I was thrilled about celebrating my 90th birthday with my daughter Angie and my grandchildren. But when they didn’t show up, I found myself spending the day with an unexpected visitor bearing surprising news.

My name is Patty, and I’ve lived a long, happy life. After my husband passed away, it’s just been me and my daughter. I was looking forward to my birthday because Angie had promised to visit with the kids. Seeing my grandchildren always warms my heart, reminding me of the days raising Angie with my husband.

However, as the day wore on, my excitement turned to worry. Lunchtime came and went, and Angie still hadn’t called or answered my calls. I thought she might be driving and unable to pick up, but it became clear that this special day would be spent alone.

Just when I had given up hope, the doorbell rang. Expecting Angie, I was surprised to see John, my former son-in-law, standing there with gifts and flowers.

“Happy Birthday, Ma!” John greeted me warmly.

“John? What a surprise!” I exclaimed, trying to hide my disappointment.

“I brought you something to celebrate,” he said, handing me chocolates.

I invited John in, insisting he stay for dinner despite his modest objections. We cooked together, and it was a nostalgic experience, reminding me of my late husband, who was also a great cook.

As we ate, John asked about Angie. He was shocked to learn that she hadn’t shown up. Determined to get answers, he called her, and to my surprise, she picked up. John soon learned that Angie and her new boyfriend had taken the kids on vacation without telling anyone.

I was hurt and confused. “Why wouldn’t she tell me?” I wondered aloud. John was equally frustrated, especially since he hadn’t been informed about his children being taken away.

This news left a deep wound in my heart. Angie could have at least told me she wouldn’t be available. Despite this, I will always love her, but the pain and disappointment were overwhelming.

Thank goodness John was there to help ease the hurt. I’m not sure how to move forward or how to trust Angie again after this.
