Pat Sajak discusses his emergency surgery. He believed he was going to die from the pain

Pat Sajak, the beloved host of “Wheel of Fortune,” has made a remarkable recovery after undergoing emergency surgery for a blocked bowel. In his first interview since the operation, Sajak opened up to “Good Morning America” about his harrowing experience.

Just a month ago, Sajak was out for a stroll with his daughter when he suddenly felt excruciating pain that left him doubled over. Despite efforts to manage his pain, nothing seemed to work until he was given a medication that brought him relief – but also a surreal experience.

“I felt like I was floating away, surrounded by beautiful pastels and a sense of detachment,” Sajak recalled. “I could hear my wife and daughter’s voices, but they sounded distant, and I thought, ‘This must be what death feels like.'”

Thankfully, Sajak’s fears were unfounded, and he survived the procedure. With no underlying cause found for the intestinal blockage, he’s been given a clean bill of health and is back to hosting duties, spinning the wheel with ease.

Sajak’s co-host, Vanna White, filled in for him during his recovery, and he jokingly expressed concerns that she might steal the show. But it’s clear that Sajak is comfortable in his role and grateful for a second chance.

“I’m still on my guard, but I’m feeling great,” he said with a smile. “And I’m just happy to be back doing what I love.”
