Country singer Ingrid Andress, who recently captivated audiences with her rendition of the national anthem at the 2024 Home Run Derby, has announced her decision to enter a rehab facility. Andress shared on social media platform X that she was intoxicated during the performance and will be seeking treatment.
MLB spokesperson Matt Bourne declined to comment on the matter, as reported by Maria Sherman of the Associated Press. Andress’s a cappella performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Globe Life Field included noticeable moments where her voice cracked, particularly on the higher notes.
At 32, Andress has released two studio albums and has written songs for artists such as Charli XCX, Fletcher, and Bebe Rexha. She had planned live shows in Nashville on July 17 and Denver on July 24, but her representatives informed CNN’s Lisa Respers France that these performances have been canceled.
The Home Run Derby, a highlight of MLB All-Star week, occurred the night before the All-Star Game. Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Teoscar Hernández won the final round, narrowly defeating Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. with a score of 14-13.
This announcement has drawn considerable attention, shedding light on the personal struggles Andress faces alongside her professional endeavors.
