Tragedy Strikes Beloved Gospel Family: The Nelons’ Heartbreaking Loss

A devastating plane crash in Wyoming has claimed the lives of seven individuals, including members of the renowned gospel family, The Nelons. The tragic incident occurred while the group was en route to Alaska to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise.

Autumn Nelon Streetman, the sole surviving member of the family, released a heartfelt statement expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers. She mourns the loss of her parents, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, her sister Amber, brother-in-law Nathan, and their friends Melodi Hodges, Larry, and Melissa Haynie.

A poignant video taken just before the fatal flight shows Jason Nelon Clark smiling and chatting with his family and the pilot on a Nebraska runway. The plane, a Pilatus PC-12/47E owned by Haynie Enterprises, crashed into the ground in flames, sparking a wildfire.

The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident. The Nelons, inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016, leave behind a legacy as one of the most influential families in US gospel history. Their iconic songs, such as “I Shall Not Be Moved” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown,” will continue to inspire fans.

As the family navigates this unimaginable loss, Autumn’s statement conveys their appreciation for the love and support that will help them through the difficult days ahead.
